Red Jasper

The term jasper has long been used for an opaque, impure variety of silica in the form of chalcedony or microcrystalline chert. Generally it forms near volcanic activity and the circulation of hot water is thought to be required for its formation. The red colour of this jasper is caused by iron oxide inclusions.

As a healing stone, red jasper is gently stimulating. It is grounding and it brings problems to light. Red jasper makes an excellent worry stone.
